November 30th, 2011

Well best layed plans.  I love having my family around, it is always good to have your mom and dad around when you are sick.  I always get way more sympathy from them then from my husband.  Anyway, it was always my families tradition to get our christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving.  My husband didn't want to go this weekend so I convinced him  to get the baby's picture taken with Santa instead.  Unfortunately (for Cam) that did not go as planned.  I'm not sure why he cried about being placed on an absulte strangers lap who was wearing a strange suit.  Seems unusual to me (I think I sould probably be thrilled that he understands stranger, danger at such a young age.)  Anyway I was in such a bad mood about the lack of Christmas spirit after the Santa incident that we went to get our Christmas tree that afternoon.  All I can say is "Little Full, lots of sap....."

November 23rd, 2011

Well the family is all in town and the turkey is in the fridge defrosting, I am on the couch trying to feel better.  Unfortunately this week I managed to get bronchitis and had to go to the doctors office aftter school on my way home.  It is nothing new to me.  I get brochitis every year but I usually wait to get it till January or February.  It is lousy to feel aweful right before a fantastic eating holiday.   Since I do really love to eat.

Overall the holiday went fine, I got to see my neice and nephew we made cookies together and spent time playing games.  It is always nice to see my family, the holiday where people travel for hours to argue with each other.  I didn't get to see my brother or my sister in law because they both had to work Thanksgiving since they work for an online game company and I would assume that Thanksgiving is a very busy time for them since there are so many people home.

November 9th, 2011

This week of teacher convention always comes up quickly and is relatively packed.  I had good intentions of going this year however my daycare provider decided last minute that she was not able to watch my son even though we had agreed that she would on Friday.  I was hoping to get down to the convention for at least one day. However it is not a wise idea to take a 17 month old to a packed convention with no ability to nap.  So instead I decided to work on my digital story.  That also ended badly.  I was having trouble making a story out of the pictures that I had on my laptop so I decided that I would do a digital story on my baby horse (who is no longer with us.)  but all of the pictures that I had of her were  on my desktop.  Long story short my desktop decided to die and I have done everything that I possibly can to revive it.  I spent the better part of the weekend trying various techniques to recover the data on the drive with no success.  I only have two options left one of which is to disconnect the C and hook up another harddrive to reinstall the operating system on and then try to remove the information from the C drive, or send the whole stupid computer to my brother in MA to fix it.  I know that the computer itself is not worth saving but I really would like my pictures and my entire music collection.  So I cannot sync my Ipod to any other computer because if I do I will erase my entire music collection off of it.  Basically its a mess. Sigh.

November 2, 2011

Well the seasons seem to be a little confused this year, somehow we went from summer to winter, then back to fall.  It is not all bad however, I got to take the tiny human trick or treating which was a fun experience.  My parents (the master halloween costume makers)  made Cam his Halloween costume for us this year.
My thinking was you are what you eat, and Cam LOVES goldfish.  He is now a walking advertisement for Cambell's Goldfish crackers.  At some point it is embarrasing the things we do to our kids.
Anyway, class this week was very interesting, I had no idea that I could look into my pension information so completely and I thank Johanna for teaching us how to do that.  Secondly I Emailed the link to spellingcity to one of my collegues in the language arts department who is always looking for new sites.  (I acutally emailed it during the presentation because I was afraid that I would not remember)  Then I added it to my delicious account so that I could keep it for Cam when he needs it (and believe me he will need it, I am such a bad speller that I am lucky I can spell my own name.)

October 26th, 2011

Back on track, or not on track at all.  I feel like I am so far away from the end of the program and I have been working really hard.
It is difficult to see the forest through the trees at times.

I am a planner.  I plan everything.  I think that the one thing that having a kid has helped me with is knowing that planning is not in stone and sometimes you have to go with the flow.  It is however hard to go with the flow when you are a planner at heart.  I appreciated the overview of the program.  I know that this is an intro class and that it is important that everyone has an opportunity to understand the layout and ultimate goals of the program.  It also did encourage me to speak with the program to make sure that my needs as a student are being met.  Since I already started this degree (about 10 years ago now, when I lived in VA) I have a lot of motivation to finish (I don't think that you can start a masters program twice and not finish both times.)  Secondly I need to get this done while my son goes to sleep at 7.  I don't want to feel like I am missing him grow up because I am so busy with school work.
