October 4, 2011

SO I really feel left out this week, I guess it is very much my fault that I did not realize that I needed to be on campus for this class.  I know that I have already had the opportunity to see the research presentation from a previous class but you can never have too much help when you are researching.  I know from my previous class that research can be hard depending on the key words that you use.  I would say that the key words are probably the hardest thing to refine.  I know that personally I have had to try several different key words to get the information that I was looking for.  Overall my work is going well, I need to submit some of my projects before the Freeze so that I don't lose points.  I have been working a lot when the baby goes to bed, but it has been hard to get anything completely finished.  I feel like I have a lot of loose ends to tie up before I hand them in.

  1. Dear Julia,

I agree that the key words are the hardest thing to change & edit. I've been used to simply searching using Google, or Yahoo!, but you really have to utilize key words & find appropriate resources.

Since you missed our class on Wednesday, here's the URL to the Subject Research Guide to Education, that we went over w/ one of Stockton's librarians: http://libguides.stockton.edu/educ
It's a very helpful search engine to assist w/ resources for our project. Another helpful link for periodicals that have been peer reviewed can be found using this site: http://web.ebscohost.com.ezproxy.stockton.edu:2048/ehost/search/advanced?sid=deec0b52-b427-4582-bef0-055088dec1f4%40sessionmgr11&vid=1&hid=19
It's their Education Research Complete engine.

I hope that you have a great week & best of luck w/ your project.
